Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring gel preferred
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions
 

  • Beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
  • Add eggs, vanilla, and vinegar, mixing until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients and red food coloring until just combined.
  • Cover dough and chill at least 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment.
  • Scoop dough into 1-inch balls, roll in powdered sugar, and place on baking sheets.
  • Bake 10–12 minutes until cookies are set and tops are crackled.
  • Cool on a rack before serving.
