Garlic Knots
- 1 packet yeast
- 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 ½ - 3 cups flour
Topping
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 5 garlic cloves minced
- 1 ½ teaspoons Italian seasoning
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- ¼ cup Parmesan grated (optional)
- Marinara sauce for dipping
In a bowl, mix yeast, sugar, and water; let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
Add flour, garlic powder, olive oil, and salt. Mix well, adding more flour or oil if needed.
Knead dough for 5 minutes until soft and slightly springy. Cover with a towel and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough, then divide in half. Roll each half out to about 9-inch long.
Cut each rolled out dough into 9 strips, making 18 strips total. Tie each strip into a knot, tucking the ends underneath.
Place knots on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let rise for another hour.
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Bake knots for 20-25 minutes, or until golden.
While baking, mix the topping ingredients.
Brush knots with the garlic topping as soon as they come out of the oven. Let cool slightly, then enjoy with marinara sauce!
